The Council of Europe has adopted the vision of a European transport sector led by a competitive, carbon neutral and automated shipping industry.
In a review of shipping policy in Europe, the council stressed the vital importance of the maritime and inland waterway sector in bringing essential goods to citizens of its member states — a situation highlighted by the coronavirus pandemic.
