Huge spikes in bulker values between Posidonia 2016 and this year’s event could offer some encouragement for shipowners musing investments in tankers.
Intermodal broker Nassos Soulakis notes comparable supramax, kamsarmax and capesize deals show increases on between 70% and over 90% during the past two years.
Writing in the broker’s latest weekly report, Soulakis said the $24.1m paid of the 176,800-dwt Vogerunner (built 2008) in late April indicated a 75% bump is capesize prices since Posidonia 2016.
