Beijing and Venice are both enthusiastic about China’s Maritime Silk Road strategy. But they may disagree on where the road leads.
Professor Paolo Costa, head of the Venice Port Group and the North Adriatic Ports Association, is in China this week to tout his region’s ambitious plans to oust Northern Europe and in particular Rotterdam as Europe’s prime cargo hub.
He was one of a series of foreign and domestic shipping, shipbuilding and political speakers in Shanghai who addressed the Marintec Senior Maritime Forum today.
