Star Bulk Carriers’ newest capesize bulker is sailing to a repair facility in Romania after sustaining hull damage while entering the Turkish port of Eregli.

The Nasdaq-listed owner says the 180,000-dwt Star Polaris, which hit the water late last year, has been declared off-hire by its charterers as it will be out of commission for approximately 30 days.

“The company has commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and has reserved its rights relating to the unsafeness of the port,” it told investors Friday.
