The port of Amsterdam has posted a 2% rise in cargo volumes for 2011.
The group, which also includes Ijmuiden, Beverwijk and Zaanstad, said total throughput was more than 92m tons.
In Amsterdam itself, the figure was up at 74.8m tons compared to 2010.
Imports jumped 3.2% to 50.4m, while exports grew 2.5% to 24.4m tons.
The port's president Dertje Meijer said: “Despite the economic crisis the Amsterdam port region has ensured a 2% increase, which is a fine result.
"To me, particularly given the current economic circumstances, this is good news.
