The owner said communication was lost with the 7,100–dwt Gascogne (built 2004) on Sunday morning.
“The company are in contact with the relevant authorities in the region with the objective of re-establishing communication with the vessel's crew. The safety of the crew and vessel remain the overriding priority,” it added.
The IMB had previously said a Luxembourg-flagged vessel was reported missing on Sunday and may have been seized off Ivory Coast.
