The eight, whose ages range between 23 and46, are alleged to have been part of a gang that attacked Singapore-basedSentek Marine & Trading’s 1,200-dwtbunkering tanker Merlion Dua (built 1985) in Malaysian waters about 3.2nautical miles off Tanjung Stapa in the early hours of 11 December.
Armed with knives, the boarded the Merlion Dua and attempted to steal the crew's belongings and cash.
