The federal court in Abu Dhabi has jailed 10 pirates for life for hijacking a UAE bulker in 2011.
"The defendants will serve 25 years in jail, then be deported," a court official said.
The 36,000-dwt Arrilah-1 (built 2011), operated by Adnoc, was attacked by Somali gunmen on 1 April while en route from Australia to Jebel Ali.
The UAE navy and the US Fifth Fleet then carried out a rescue operation in the Arabian Sea, freeing the crew and detaining the pirates.
