The NATO Shipping Centre reports that a merchant vessel wasapproached by potential pirates in two skiffs on 27 December. The vessel was near the Strait of Hormuz in position 2617N;05643E. The ship’s armed security team fired flares and warning shots, whichwas enough to scare the skiffs away.
Later on the same day another merchant vessel reported thatit was approached by two skiffs near the coast of Oman.
