The gang targeted apanama-flagged ship en route from Salalah to Mombasa on Sunday, exchanging firewith security guards.
Crew members from the vessel,which sources suggest was the MV Jasmin, took to the citadel to wait out thedrama.
The pirates backed off afterencountering the security team but the ship did sustain some “superficialdamage”.
Both NATO and EU warships werecalled to aid the vessel, and the pirates were tracked down.
