Families of crewmen on the hijacked Malaysia bulker Albedo have been given another 14 days to find cash to free the ship.



Somali pirates have indicated they will wait until 10 May to receive $2.85m as “expenses” for their outlays on food, medicine etc during the men’s 17-month ordeal on the 1,066-teu vessel (built 1993).

 

“Earlier, the pirates had demanded $10m as ransom but we refused to pay according to the international laws and tried to solve the issue without spending any amount.
