The five men reportedly assaulted the crew of the 4,250-dwt VFM Alita (built 1986) and “deprived them of liberty” on Sunday, local media said.
One of those held by the navy was a minor.
The vessel is operated by Venezuela Feeder Maritime and listed on the IMO’s Equasis database as “to be broken up.”
