This is the first time a government force willprovide security to domestic vessels, Indian media reported.
"The CISF has chosen 100 men for training to bedeployed on merchant ships," CISF director-general Rajiv said.
They will be trained "in consultation with the navy",he added.
Preparation includes acclimatisation for long periodsspent at sea.
Formed in 1969, the CISF is a centralised force protecting state-ownedcorporations, as well as airports and other government facilities.
