The country’s foreign ministry said the men, including the captain, from the 30,000–dwt chemical tanker Gemini (built 1986) spoke to relatives on Monday.
The families then held a press conference to urge the government to step in and help the men come home.
The vessel, operated by Singapore-based Glory Ship Management, was taken with 25 crew off Kenya on 30 April, 2011.
