The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) issued its own plan to beat the gunmen during a hearing on Thursday, in a bid to move the EU away from what it called its current "piecemeal action."
"If the wave of piracy goes unchecked, the whole supply chain of goods and energy risks being disrupted," said Stephane Buffetaut, president of the EESC transport unit.
