Three armed robbers boarded a bulk carrier and briefly held a crew member hostage at gunpoint off Peru, the International Maritime Bureau says.
However, the pirates fled the scene after crew members sounded an alarm, and no one onboard was harmed.
“One crew on routine rounds managed to notify the bridge of the robbers’ presence before being taken hostage at gunpoint,” the International Chamber of Commerce bureau said in its piracy report.
