US security firm AdvanFort confirmed that a court in Chennai agreed to free the men with the exception of the Ukrainian master of the Seaman Guard Ohio and the British leader of the armed guards.
They are expected to be released later this week if certain conditions are met though it is unclear what those are.
Indian authorities arrested the 197-dwt support vessel Seaman Guard Ohio (built 1984) in October for illegally entering its waters although the master insists the vessel was in international waters at the time.
