The Liberia Maritime Authority's focus on its registry's safety performance takes priority over maintaining its market share position, the country's top maritime official tells TradeWinds.
Commissioner James Kollie, who was recently appointed to oversee the agency, says the best ship registries demonstrate growth while keeping on top of safety league tables.
"As the Liberian Registry continues to improve the quality of its maritime program, we are confident that our market share will continue to grow," he said in response to email questions.
