Harald Thorstein, a key player in the John Fredriksen group of companies, is leaving after nine years.
Thorstein, 40, will continue in private management company Seatankers Management until May of next year.
He came to the group in 2009 from DNB Markets as the financial crisis was still hitting shipping markets.
During his time with Fredriksen, the group has experienced significant growth, while sales and restructurings have lifted its cash position.
