Hiroaki Sakashita is the new chief executive of Japanese classification society ClassNK.
He takes over from Koichi Fujiwara, who has been appointed chairman of the board.
Sakashita, like Fujiwara, is a former government official who has spent most of his career at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism since 1980.
A naval architect who graduated from the University of Yokohama, Sakashita joined ClassNK in 2018 and became senior executive vice president last year.
