Ship finance veteran Nicholas Gleeson has returned to the industry after a six-year absence, joining Adnoc Logistics & Services as chief financial officer.
Gleeson has moved to Abu Dhabi to take up his appointment at the fast-growing Middle Eastern shipping giant that floats a fleet of 94 vessels spread across nearly all sectors and has a further 52 ships of various types on order.
“I look forward to re-engage with my network in the shipping and offshore segment as we progress the group’s growth initiatives in the region and internationally,” he said in a post on his LinkedIn page.
Gleeson has spent the past six years running his own corporate advisory services company in Singapore, although he is widely remembered in the industry for his long tenure at BW Group, where he wore many hats over the years, including CFO of BW Gas between May 2008 and August 2009.
He moved to Singapore-based offshore operator Miclyn Express Offshore, where he executed the company’s listing on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Returning to the BW fold, Gleeson was chief financial officer of BW Group between April 2012 and September 2016, during which time he was also chief executive of BW LPG for nearly two years.
Carsten Mortensen, BW Group’s chief executive at the time of Gleeson’s departure from the company, credited him with being “instrumental in the successful listing of BW LPG Ltd on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 2013” and said he “helped shaped the first formative years of the company thereafter”.
TradeWinds was unable to reach Gleeson for further comment.
