Finland's Viking Line has posted a new record for passenger journeys in 2017.

It carried 6.88m people last year, against 6.5m in 2016.

The number of cargo units was down at 127,668 from 131,918, while the number of cars increased to 762,253 from 682,194, another all-time record.

The greatest increase in passenger volumes was on the Helsinki–Tallinn route, where capacity was boosted between April and October.
