Italian shipyard group Fincantieri has confirmed its first order for Chinese cruiseships.
It will build two vessels for the domestic market in tandem with partner CSSC, the Chinese state shipbuilder.
Two optional ships are attached to the deal.
A non-binding agreement has been signed with cruise giant Carnival Corp of the US and CIC Capital Corporation.
Fincantieri and CSSC will be 'prime contractors' for the vessels, which will be built at CSSC's Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).
