The attachment order targeting fuel onthe 37,800-dwt Vil Atlantic (built 2011) followed the filing of a complaint againstthe ship’s charterer, Pancoast Trading of Greece.
The plaintiff, Bon Corp of Liberia, soughtthe Rule B seizure after accusing the defendant of redelivering the 32,700-dwt Roula(ex-Ocean Trader, built 1983) ahead of schedule.
According to court documents, the owner fixedthe bulker to Pancoast for 22 to 24 months after acquiring the unit from OceandamantShipping of Cyprus in June 2011 but saw the charterer pull the plug well aheadof May 2013, the earliest allowable expiration under the terms of the deal.
