Wilhelmsen has been revealed as the investor behind Reach Subsea's unmanned survey vessel project.
The Norwegian shipping company announced on Thursday that it had grabbed a 21% stake in the Oslo-listed company with an eye toward commercializing the Reach Remote concept which aims to build out subsea services on autonomous ships.
“We have been actively assessing the subsea market to find a company that could add complementary scale to our ambition within renewables,” said Wilhelmsen executive vice president of new energy Jan Eyvin Wang.
