Finland's Wartsila is to fit new generating sets on a veteran De Beers Marine mining ship.
The 6,700-dwt Debmar Pacific (built 1977) is engaged in diamond mining operations off the coast of Namibia.
With modern sets, the lifetime of the vessel will be extended and fuel oil consumption reduced, Wartsila said.
In addition, the new equipment is more reliable and needs less maintenance, reducing disruptions in operations and opex expenditure, it added.
