US drilling rig giant Transocean has walked away from two offshore deepwater drillships under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries.
The US-listed company said it will not make further payments to the South Korean shipbuilder under the construction contracts.
Transocean said the total estimated future costs associated with the delivery and placing the drillships into service would have been about $1.1bn.
