French subsea contractor TechnipFMC is offloading a cable-layer ordered for $250m in 2008.
The company said it expects to complete a deal for the 21,900-gt Global 1201 (built 2011) next month.
The sale is part of its overall strategy to optimise the profile and size of its subsea fleet.
The contract includes a collaboration agreement with the unnamed buyer that would provide five years of exclusivity for a list of named subsea projects in a "specific jurisdiction" and the right of first refusal for other projects.
