Turkey’s currency crisis and China’s ban on imported vessels for scrapping are set to impact the offshore recycling industry.
UK shipbroker Clarksons says these two markets have been the “key players” in the import of offshore units for scrapping.
“Since 2014, Turkish breakers have accounted for 30% of the rigs delivered for recycling, with China accounting for at least another 10%,” it said.
