The Norwegian oil major has tied up the semi-submersible unit Songa Delta for four years but may extend this for one more with an option.
The letter of award struck between the compatriots will see the drilling rig put out to work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf after its current deal with Det Norske-Wintershall ends.
The Songa Delta will, however, need upgrading work and a yard stay before beginning the contract sometime around the second or third quarters of 2012.
