Dutch FPSO owner SBM Offshore has clinched a deal to help develop Premier Oil’s new project off the Falkland Islands.

It said the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for an FPSO for phase one of the Sea Lion venture will run for 18 months.

The development is in the North Falkland Basin, 220km north of the British-administered islands.

A converted FPSO with a throughput capacity of approximately 85,000 barrels per day (bpd) will operate in 450 metres of water.
