The rig count in the US Gulf of Mexico slumped to the lowest level in nearly six years, adding to demand woes for offshore vessels in that market.
Baker Hughes' latest rig data show 18 rigs in the key US drilling market, down two since the prior week and a 37.9% decline from a year earlier.
Iberia Capital analyst Trey Stolz said today in a note to clients that the count marks the lowest level since September 2010.
