PGS and TGS-NOPEC Geophysical have agreed to splash out "limited" cash to acquire UK rival Dolphin's multiclient library.
The seismic survey players said the deal will be done on a 50/50 basis.
A contract is expected to be entered into in the near future.
The companies said the Dolphin library is a good strategic fit, especially the surveys covering the North West shelf of West Africa and the Barents Sea.
