At least four offshore vessels helped battle a fire on an oil platform fire off Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico, including one vessel that rescued workers who escaped the stricken rig.
US authorities were notified early this morning of the emergency on the platform, which is 80 miles (129 kilometres) off Grand Isle, Lousiana.
US Coast Guard Petty Officer Brandon Giles tells TradeWinds that the fire on the Renaissance Energy facility has been extinguished and there are no signs of pollution.
