NYK has taken control of Swedish shipowner Northern Offshore Group (NOG) to strengthen its offshore wind shipping operations.

The major Japanese owner said it had agreed on a deal to buy a majority stake in the company, which operates a fleet of more than 60 crew transfer vessels through its subsidiary Northern Offshore Services.

It said NOG has been a pioneer in the sector for more than 20 years, and continues to set operational and environmental standards for the industry.
