John Fredriksen’s Northern Drilling has agreed to extend an option to buy a drillship newbuilding from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME).
The option has been extended for the Cobalt Explorer for approximately four months against a down-payment of $12m, it said.
The $12m will be deducted against the first instalment of $105m should the option be exercised, the Oslo-listed company added.
