Norwegian shipping giant John Fredriksen has not lost appetite for oil rigs despite huge financial problems for his listed company Seadrill.

His private Cyprus company, Seatankers, is buying up to two completed semi-submersible drilling rigs from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in what appears to be a pure asset play.

TradeWinds understands that Seatankers has a firm deal to buy the sixth-generation ultra-deepwater rig West Mira (built 2014), which was ordered in 2012 by Seadrill.
