The diversified US shipowner says the unitswill be the first in a series that will help the company compete for contracts tiedto the offshore oil and gas market.
“Foss has five assetscommitted to an Arctic offshore exploration project in the Chukchi and BeaufortSeas and looks forward to providing additional assets in the Arctic,” it wrotein a statement Monday.
With several customersexpected to pursue similar work in the coming years, Foss says it intends toanswer the call with tugs, landing craft, crew boats and barges that arecapable of operating in harsh environments.
