Maersk Oil has halted the export of gas from the North Sea’s Tyre East platform complex following discovery of problems with a supply vessel berthing facility.
A welded structure holding a boat fender was found to have developed cracks.
The worry is that if the fender breaks free it could hit and damage the gas export line.
Gas from Tyra is exported by pipeline with the berth required for offshore vessels to bring in supplies or exchange crew.
