Esvagt is scrapping two ageing emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRV) at an environmentally safe yard, the Danish offshore shipowner said this week.

The 9,000-bhp Esvagt Gamma (ex-Smit Lloyd 92, built 1985) and 500-bhp Esvagt Promotor (built 1965) are on their final voyage, with the newer vessel towing the older one.

Esvagt said it was keen to use a European Union-approved recycling yard, and the pair will be demolished at Fornaes Ship Recycling in Grena, Denmark.
