Two platform supply vessel newbuildings damaged by a cyclone while under construction in India have been sent for demolition, brokers say.
The two 3,400-dwt vessels initially contracted by Halul Offshore at Larsen & Toubro have been scrapped.
Halul ordered the vessels back in 2013 but when cyclone Vardah hit the yard in 2016 both of the hulls were impacted.
While the offshore market has been suffering during the past few years, brokers say it is unlikely newbuildings would be scrapped without such a unique influence.
