AHTS rates more than double as Norway sells out

Rates for anchor-handlers (AHTS) in the North sea have spiked as spot tonnage was mopped up by charterers.

Brokers reported daily levels of up to NOK 475,000 ($58,400) per day, as Norway sold out of vessels on Tuesday, reinforcing a generally more positive view of the offshore ship sector.

K Line's 390-bp KL Sandefjord (built 2011) and SolstadFarstad's 344-bp Normand Drott (built 2010) were fixed at this top rate by Well Expertise for the Transocean Arctic rig move, with another booked at NOK 400,000.
