Liner operators have so far blanked some 384 sailings due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Sea-Intelligence.
A further 83 sailings have been cancelled in the past week alone as lines trim sailing capacity to help manage the downturn in demand, the Danish analyst estimates.
The service cuts amount to nearly two-and-a-half times the cancellations of a typical year.
Most of the fall in demand has come from major markets of Europe and the United States.
