The Ottawa-based Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC) says moves to modernise Canada’s pilotage services is an “historic step forward”.
The group, which represents more than 130 industry stakeholders including Canadian and US shippers, ports and international shipowners, is among organisations that have welcomed the Canadian government announcing its intention to amend the country’s much-criticised Pilotage Act as part of the 2019 federal budget.
