Freight and commodities broking powerhouse FIS is to hold a charity fundraising day for Ukraine next week.
The global brokerage founded and led by John Banaszkiewicz will donate all brokerage commission generated on 17 March from its trades to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine and the surrounding region.
Banaszkiewicz told TradeWinds: “We have all seen the heart-breaking scenes in Ukraine and we cannot stand idly by when so many are now in need.
“It’s been amazing to see so many Poles open their homes to Ukrainian refugees as someone of Polish heritage, so we also want to do our part to help those who have been affected by this conflict.”
Proceeds from the day’s trading in everything from forward freight agreements to bunkers will be used in support of the UK Disasters Emergency Committee, which support leading aid charities in delivering support quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas.
“We hope that our charity day on Thursday 17 March will raise a significant amount, all of which will be donated to fund humanitarian aid in Ukraine and the surrounding region,” Banaszkiewicz said.
FIS held a charity event to raise money for the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in 2011.
