Major Greek owner Eastern Mediterranean Maritime (Eastmed) has bought an MR tanker newbuilding duo originally ordered by France's Socatra at South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).
The Athens-based company is spending $69.6m on the 50,000-dwt ships, listed as Hull No 2860 and Hull No 2861, and both built in 2021.
They are understood to be options exercised earlier this month by Socatra from an original order in January for two firm vessels and a similar number of optional units.
