Liner operators, tonnage providers and lessors have placed over 2m teu of containership newbuilding orders in the past six months, according to Alphaliner estimates.
Most of those have been placed in recent weeks, with 1.22m teu ordered in the year to date. That adds to nearly 1m teu of capacity booked in the fourth quarter of 2020, the boxship analysis firm reported.
