United European Car Carriers (UECC) has hailed a "stunning" result in terms of emissions reductions after a year-long trial with biofuel.
The Oslo-based ship operator, owned by NYK Line and Wallenius Lines, replaced conventional bunkers with biofuel from Dutch producer GoodFuels on the 2,080-ceu Autosky (built 2000) last March.
UECC said the test showed how ageing assets can be transformed into environmental front-runners almost overnight.
