Explorer Victor Vescovo was en route from Puerto Rico in his diving support ship Pressure Drop, planning an Arctic Ocean dive, when the idea of heading down to the wreck of the Titanic took hold.
"We thought, shoot, no one's been there in 15 years, let's go and have a look," he told TradeWinds.
The plan was to record the trip in 4K ultra-high definition and 3D, in a bid to reveal the speed and nature of the vessel's deterioration.
