Dutch green vessel conversion firm Future Proof Shipping (FPS) plans to retrofit an inland containership to a zero-emissions hydrogen propulsion system this year.
It will carry out the work in cooperation with Holland Shipyards Group (HSG).
The move is a first step in FPS’ aims to build and operate a fleet of 10 zero-emissions inland and shortsea vessels over the next five years to charter out – and longer term to offer zero-emissions oceangoing vessels.
